An update to our previous posts, here and here.
The 40 cats that were missing from a home in foreclosure last week, have returned. Initially, it was thought they were taken by another cat hoarder, or was a case of animal theft. These cats are considered to be the most desirable, best socialized among those found at the home.
A neighbor had called the Teller County Sheriff’s Department, on Tuesday, and reported seeing some cats hanging around the foreclosed property. After checking out the property, the deputies confirmed the return of the cats. While the Sheriff’s Department thought a theft would require a significant undertaking, they didn’t discount it. Also, without having an accurate census, it was difficult to determine exactly how many cats were actually on the property, and how many were missing.
The cats are very well, and in good health. Apparently, all of the activity last week caused these cats to hide in their secret places. Yet, enough food, fresh water, and clean kitty litter were still available and accessible after the rescue effort wrapped up last week Thursday.
Dreampower and several other feline rescue groups have returned to resume the rescue effort. The bank has given its permission to access the foreclosed property, and will delay any sale until all of the cats have been rescued. Unlike last week’s effort, activity is being kept at a minimum to insure success.
The cats rescued last week are doing very well in their foster homes. All are in good health, with some having been fixed, and more scheduled for fixing.
Definitely, good news.

Good news that all cats are accounted for, but strange news that it took so long to do it. Let’s hope they rescued them all.
I am so happy, happy to hear this.
