Every individual meezer needs to have certain things that belong just to them. Call it “exclusivity.”
For example, the little gray catnip mouse first belonged to Dino when he was a baby kitten. When Pebbles needed a toy, she co-opted Dino’s gray mousie. That was okay, he had another toy to take it’s place … a milk bottle cap. Pebbles abandoned the gray mousie for a Coke bottle cap. When the coast was clear, Dino took back possession of his gray mousie again.
Through the years, there were a variety of toys Dino and Pebbles could choose from. Naturally, those heavily scented with catnip were preferred.

When Egypt came, she checked through the toy basket, choosing the jingle balls and some of the catnip toys. She had her own favorites, which included wood, sisal rope, and carpet squares. And, of course, her favorites were bought.

The Musketeers had their favorites when they were outdoor baby kittens. Tuxie found a short piece of branch which he called his own. Midnight had a Raggedy Ann head she discovered in the alley. And, Maxie’s favorite was someone’s abandoned dinosaur beanie baby. When they came into the patio, their toys came inside as well. They abandoned those when they found some new ones in the patio. And, when they came into the main part of the house, they discovered even more toys.
Dino’s gray catnip mousie fast became Midnight’s favorite, until it went missing. Though she loved that mousie, it was quickly replaced by the blue fishie.

A fishie that gets around quite a bit … the bedrooms, the kitchen, the patio, the greenhouse.
Tuxie’s favorite are the jingle balls, a half dozen scattered about the house. (Watch your step!!!) Maxie has a long leather tassel thingy from his grandma’s handbag, which also gets around the house.
And, Dino. He has his private reserve, catnip toys.
Meezer Rule: Your exclusive items are not for sharing.

I think that is a fantastic meezer rule. In fact, I think all my toys should be exclusive.
I agree with Chey. I always have to throw my sister and brothers off the track with different toys so their interest is with the fake toys, and then I get mine. It’s time consuming, though.
We hadded that same sisal scratchie!!! Hhmmmm….wonder where it went? Moooommmmaaaaa!!!!!

In a many cat household you definitely need to be sneaky with toys. Sebastian hides his toys in different hiding spots. We always find them behind the couch.
Bear is a very laid back boy but every once in a while his catnip banana takes quite the beating. His favored wish toy list includes the little birds that flit just on the outside of his screen door. He will sit there fascinated and contemplating for hours. And then, of course, there is always the occasional foreleg of a passing canine.. great sport to be sure.
