We’re off to a blazing hot start.
Summer has definitely arrived. On our thermometer … yesterday, 90 deg F; today 93 deg F. We are relaxing very comfortably with the central air on. Consider, 2-3 weeks ago, it was dealing with a late spring freeze. The weather wonders of Kitty Colorado.
Talking Tech
We’ve been running XP SP3 for about a month now. No real problems to mention. Performance, about the same (which was expected). Basically, SP3 is the consolidation of the 80 or so security updates since SP2 was released six years ago, and the addition of three or four features that are standard with Vista.
Coming Soon
For those counting down, Meezer Colors Day will be in 9 days, arriving on Wednesday, June 11 2008. It will be in place of Meezer Rule Wednesday on that particular day. Meezers should be post image(s) of themself wearing, sitting, sleeping, or whatever with their favorite color(s) that best shows their eye color and fur. If you have flag and/or coat-of-arms, please include those items as well. Meezer Colors Day is to demonstrate that Meezer World Domination is nearly complete.
“The Case of the Mysterious Blackbird” will return soon. The ravens may be manipulating this year’s election, and may explain why Chey was “winged” last week during a campaign appearance.
Medal of Honor
We are privileged to have fine young men and women who wear the uniform of America’s Armed Forces. Today, Private First Class Ross Andrew McGinnis was posthumously awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor, the nation’s highest award for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity. Receiving the award was his parents, Romayne and Tom McGinnis, accompanied by their daughters, Katie and Becky.

Gotta love that Colorado weather… you need to be ready for anything!
Funny you should mention SP3. Ever since it installed on this PC, Windows hangs on the splash screen if any FireWire peripheral is already powered up. That matters because when I use Acronis True Image to clone the HD to an external backup, that external HD is supposed to remain powered up while Windows does a warm reboot before the clone process begins.
And as you probably guessed, that external HD is hooked up with FireWire. (Nope, plugging it in to a USB doesn’t work at all — Windows doesn’t recognize the drive.)
I’m pointing the finger at SP3 because Googling the problem has revealed many more people with the same problem and the same cause. Sheesh…
