Something about “sailing the deep blue sea.” Something about a sale. It must be Columbus Day.
The Icy Weekend
An arctic cold front, accompanied by freezing drizzle and freezing fog, passed through early Saturday morning. A thin veneer of ice was left in its wake.
Ice-laden trees (Oct 11 2009).
Icicles hanging from the greenhouse (Oct 11 2009).
Icy driveway. The wet is ice, the dry is ice. (Oct 11 2009)
Naturally, the icy conditions created havoc on the roads. A 50-car pileup on an elevated portion of I-25 through Colorado Springs. Throughout Saturday, I-25 experienced multiple closures due to accidents. Numerous multi-car accidents also occurred on surface streets, and some were closed due to road conditions (Fillmore Hill, Union Blvd, and Powers Blvd).
The frigid conditions also caused Game 3 of the NLDS between the Phillies and Rockies to be moved to Sunday evening. The game conditions set a new MLB record as the coldest game played. (The Phillies won Game 3, 6-5.)
Frozen bird bath (Oct 11 2009).
And, not much for a cat to do, but watch …
Egypt looking out the window (Oct 11 2009).
The weather improved steadily today, warming back into the low 40s. Much better than the mid-20s that we had over the weekend.
This is what makes Colorado.
Coincidence?
Hmmmm …

Coincidence begins with the letter “c.”

New cat arrival
Another Fenton cat has arrived. That makes ten Fenton cats, with another scheduled to arrive later this week.
How many can we have? Do we need a cattery license? Do we have enough crunchies and stinky goodness for all? Do we have enough toys?

Whoa, can’t believe you had a snow front already!!! We are still in denial that its not summer anymore.
Hmm…I think the “c”’s have it–we are all such wonderful cats. Stay warm and safe you all!
And yet another cat huh? Interesting…
Rain around here today, but further north where granddaughter Diana lives, they had a light coating of snow.
Snow around here, but there have been no shiny balloons floating by with 6-year-olds…
And of course, Colorado begins with “C”.
